Dr. Josh Herron is the Dean of Online and Continuous Learning in the Center for Innovation and Digital Learning at Anderson University (SC). Before his current role, he was Director of Online Programs at a liberal arts college. He began his academic career as a faculty member in the NC Community College System.

He has taught communication and learning experience design courses in a variety of modalities. He currently directs and teaches in the fully online M.S. in Instructional Design and Learning Technology program at Anderson University (SC). His research interests include new media, learning design, and educational innovation. He has over 30 related publications and presentations in a variety of outlets.

His professional service has included board officer for the SC Association of Continuing Higher Education (SCACHE) along with peer reviewer and conference organizer roles for national organizations. He has earned awards from the University Professional Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) and Online Learning Consortium (OLC). 

He holds a PhD in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design from Clemson University and an M.A. in Writing Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He also completed Penn State University and the Online Learning Consortium’s Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning.
