Dr. Josh Herron is the Dean of Online and Continuous Learning in the Center for Innovation and Digital Learning at Anderson University (SC). Before his current role, he was Director of Online Programs at a liberal arts college. He began his academic career as a Teaching Associate in the NC Community College System.
He teaches writing, communication, and instructional design courses in seated and online formats. He coordinates the M.S. in Instructional Design and Learning Technology program at Anderson University.
His research interests are in online/blended learning, mobile learning, new media, composition studies, and higher education teaching and learning. He has over 30 related publications and presentations in a variety of outlets. He has earned awards from the University Professional Continuing Education Association (UPCEA) and Online Learning Consortium (OLC).
He holds a PhD in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design from Clemson University and an M.A. in English (Teaching Composition) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He also completed Penn State University and the Online Learning Consortium’s Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning.
